Steel is a very hard, and inorganic material...until you heat it
up in a forge. In this class, we will be focusing on techniques for
forging leaves, flowers, and other swirling and wild forms. Students
will learn tapering, bending, spreading, and forge welding in order to
realize natural forms in steel. Creativity and experimentation is
strongly encouraged so each student can bring home their own steel

Learn
the "how to" for metalworking and explore the process of turning ideas
into three-dimensional objects. We will spend the first portion of the
course developing plans and learning basic metal fabrication techniques,
such as welding, torch work, bending, cutting, and cold connections.Click here for more info.

something I had never done before and will really use in the future. "
In
this class, students will design, create, heat treat, and finish a 4"
fixed blade utility or paring knife using the equipment and tools found
in a standard jewelry studio. Many of the techniques involved in the
knifemaking process will be familiar to metalsmiths, with attention
towards the use of different materials. Design considerations will be
addressed in relation to form and function, as well as the aesthetics of

Come
get down and dirty while learning to make functional and sculptural
forms on the potter's wheel! In this course, students will learn how to
use the potters wheel to create cups, bowls, plates, vases, and pouring
vessels. Students will practice throwing, trimming, making handles and
spouts, and finishing and firing their pieces. Click here for more info.
